Happenings/Events: Travelling Sindy (TS) on SindySorority

In June 2022 Karen started a Facebook group dedicated to Sindy and her friends, SindySorority. She took one of her Sindy dolls and asked if any of the group members, around the world, would like to host her doll and take photos of her visiting the different places and share them on the SindySorority Facebook page. The doll was named Travelling Sindy and below is an interview with Karen about this!

How did you come up with the idea of Travelling Sindy? “It was actually a group suggestion! I had asked about two years ago what members would like to see happen in the group. A couple of lovely ladies mentioned it would be nice if we could have a Sindy travel around the world to see all the different countries and places.“

When did you make it first happen? “I was headed to England that year (2023, TLSM’s note) and I organised a Sindy meet up with members in the Yorkshire area which was fantastic! We all took photos with Travelling Sindy and then I handed her off to the lovely Geraldine Smith to begin her journey”

How did you decide which doll it would be? “I had a lovely rerooted redhead Sindy who I thought would photograph well and she has exceeded expectations.”

(Karen, Geraldine and Travelling Sindy also went to the London Meet up, hosted by Mam’selle Magazine, and there they got to listen to the talented Colette Mansell, author of the book “The History of Sindy”!)

How many countries has she visited so far? “Travelling Sindy has been on her adventures for a year and a half and has visited so many places! Firstly she travelled all around England and then was taken by the lovely Sarah Walby to Australia.”

“Since then she has been all around Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. Now she is in Europe and has been to Austria, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland. Unfortunately she had a mishap and came apart from all her activities and the lovely Martina at The Little Sindy Museum gave her a new body and sent her on her way after hosting her and showing her a great time! Next she will be sent to the Netherlands and Belgium. After Europe she will head to the USA.”
