Questions and Answers

1) Q: How did you first discover Sindy? A: She was introduced to me by a childhood friend who kindly loaned a Sindy to me whilst I eagerly awaited a visit from Santa Claus.

2) Q: How old were you when you got your first Sindy? A: Around 6 or 7 years old.

3) Q: What model was your first Sindy? A:  A 1978/79  blonde Active Ballerina.

4) Q: What kind of Sindy/Sindy item did you dream about as a kid? A:  I was mesmerised when I first saw the Carter’s TV commercial for the new Pedigree Active Ballerina Sindy and had a long wait and lots of time to dream until my next birthday. The Sindy House, without a doubt was the dream that never went away and only came to fruition last year!

5) Q: What kind of Sindy/Sindy item do you dream about now? A: The Sindy Super Show and Ballerina. Although the Sindy on the pedestal was not a ballerina, her outfit demonstrates that Pedigree may have been working on concept of introducing a ballerina. This may not be the case but I like to think so.

 6) Q: What led you into your Sindy career you have today? A:  Appreciation from fellow like minded Sindy Collectors who seem to love my little tutus.

7) Q: Can you mention three people you think helped you there?  A: Jules Gray at Sindy Doll Pics casually nick named me the Sindy Ballet Girl which seemed to follow me of which and I am proud and thankful. The ‘Sindy team’ at Kid Kreations for believing in me and entrusting me with the care of Sindy Storytime and the new Sindy releases. The Sindy collector community for sharing their love of Sindy Ballet tutus.

8) Q: Do you have a special goal for your Sindy work? A: My goal is to share my love of creating Sindy dioramas and sets by holding tuition classes. However, the dream would be to design a collection of Sindy bridal gowns and see them on the store shelves for all Sindy collectors to have access to and love.

9) Q: Can you mention three people you think of as doll influensers? A: My admiration for Sindy influencers is far to huge to mention only a few but Rachel Godfroy has to be highly commended for not giving up on her dream and dedication to reinvent Sindy, reaching out to the next generation of Sindy lovers and keeping her ever present for the adult collectors who remain young at heart.

10) Q: What do you love/like/appreciate about Sindy? A: For me the most treasurable aspect with Sindy is the nostalgia that she holds and the ability to evoke only the happiest, childhood memories of love and friendship.

There you are funny little bear. (Check out the T-shirt to the right! TLSM is very proud!)

Jo has not only designed and sewn the astonishing outfits, she has also made all the incredible dioramas! She is one of the most talented people I know and know about! Make sure to follow her on both Facebook and Instagram!

Jo has written lovely stories combined with beautiful photos about Little Ted (see below) that she shared on her Instagram and on her Facebook page. Some of these stories also got printed in a gorgeous little book that TLSM is lucky to have a signed copy of!

The Sindy Street is the result of a collaborative team effort with Jo Chafer and the Sindy team at @kid_kreations. When Jo was first shown the packaging the 2021 Kid Kreations Sindy Play Range dolls should be sold in, she almost fell off her chair, stunned by the artwork made by Rachel Godfroy Scott.

Jo says: “It totally inspired me to try my best to recreate the shops and boutiques to do just to @toy_designer_rachel artwork. What a privilege it has been.”

As you can tell I am blown away by Jo’s talent! But she’s also incredibly sweet and kind. She is the main reason that TLSM can get hold of so many different Sindy dolls and scensetters, that are hard to find in Sweden, since she let me use her UK address and thus make it possible to buy things sold in the UK only!

When the things TLSM has bought arrives to Jo, she opens, repack it all in a big box and stores it until it’s filled then sends it to me in Sweden!

This is a massive work Jo does for TLSM and she’s of course a pro of doing this as well! She fills every little corner of the boxes, packs everything with care and takes notes of all that’s in the box.

The Little Sindy Museum would only have half of it’s collection if it wasn’t for Jo!

And at last, I need to show the extraordinary tutu Jo made especially for The Little Sindy Museum! I’m so proud to have an original Joanna Chafer creation at TLSM to show my visitors!

This exclusive and uniquely designed tutu was created for and donated to The Little Sindy Museum by Jo Chafer aka The Sindy Ballet Girl.

TLSM is so grateful, happy and proud to have this to show the visitors!

I will end this by saying a phrase I use a lot (as all of you understand why, by now, lol.)

I <3 Jo

THANK YOU Jo for your amazing work and for taking the time to answer all the questions!
